Indian government launched steel import monitoring system - pre painted galvanized steel coil manufacturers

According to the report, the Indian Government has launched a steel import monitoring system (SIMS) to provide advanced information on steel imports for steel producers and importers to intervene more effectively.
The Minister of Trade and Industry started the system developed in a discussion with the Ministry of Steel on the model of the US Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis System (SIMA).
For all steel products designated to be imported, these products will need to be registered in advance on the SIMS web portal to provide information. In addition, importers will register no earlier than 60 days and no later than 15 days before the expected date of import goods. Registration will be valid for 75 days after the number is generated.

The steel ministry will monitor imported steel products with the information provided.
SIMS has required prior import to import the 284 steel tariff lines with 8-digit HS codes to get the registration number by paying registration fee.

Turkey to Impose Steel Import Quotas on October

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had authorized the doubling of previously-imposed import tariffs on Turkish aluminum and steel to 20 percent and 50 percent Turkey told the World Trade Organization that it will impose steel import quotas starting from October 17, to shield Turkey's steel industry from a surge in imports. Turkey has been in conflict with the United States over trade issues since March, when Trump initially introduced the 10 and 25 percent duties on imports of aluminum and steel, respectively, from US trade partners, including Turkey.
